Dec 29th
Yes, my family loves dogs. A LOT!
Just to get the doggie family tree straight – Hercules (AKA, Santa Claus) is my baby (but you all knew that!). Cookie and Zoey belong to my sister’s family, and Trixie is my Mom and Dad’s.
Here they are, check out their Christmas spirit!

Only a couple more weeks until the return of Big Love, and I can’t wait!
In the meantime, here’s a Christmas greeting from the Prophet and Ladies of Juniper Creek to tide us over. It’s hilariously awesome!

Heather Armstrong of Dooce.com Looking for Holiday Guide Submissions
Nov 19th
OK, this is a call out to all my artistic readers, and there are more than a few.
Heather Armstrong of Dooce.com (the internet’s most popular personal blog) is looking for submissions from independent artists for her Holiday gift guides. These will get incredible exposure from motivated buyers. If you are a craftsperson who makes something that would fit, please don’t hesitate – SUBMIT!
Here is the relevant text from the original post:
I am in the process of putting together a holiday gift guide, one for women like myself, one for geeky husbands, one for infants, and one for five-year-old girls who think life is totally unfair. Maybe just some coal for her.
I’m looking for handmade goods, products from small businesses, and would love to see unique things from independent artists. If you’ve seen my style section and think I’d like what you have to offer, please send me a link to your stuff at style at dooce dot com. Note, I do not accept compensation for featuring products on this website, I truly just want to introduce my audience to things I like and think they would enjoy as well.
Please don’t send me naked pictures of yourself, I don’t have any more room in that file.
And you can read the entire thing here –

Good luck to you!
Christmas Movies – A List of Christmas Movies I Can’t Live Without
Dec 24th
Sure, when you think Christmas Movies, you think…Miracle on 34th Street or It’s a Wonderful Life. Well, I’ll tell you right now. Those didn’t make my list. LOL. My tastes are a bit more unconventional than that.
My Christmas movies are not necessarily heartwarming, in fact, the only requirement is that they take place at Christmas and either the storyline or the atmosphere of the movie heavily feature Christmas.
So, without further ado, here they are – in no particular order:
A Christmas Story – come on, you knew this was coming. Fra-gee-lay. You’ll shoot your eye out. Fa ra ra ra ra. It’s a classic.
| US $5.00 (0 Bid) End Date: Tuesday Sep-07-2010 13:51:51 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
The Family Stone – I loved this movie. The writing, the casting, the dialogue, the unexpected poignancy. SO great.
| US $0.99 (0 Bid) End Date: Tuesday Sep-07-2010 11:57:51 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
Die Hard – Yes, this movie takes place at Christmas, and, in fact, even has a line which makes the assertion that Run DMC’s “Christmas in Hollis” is a Christmas Carol.
| US $3.99 (0 Bid) End Date: Friday Sep-03-2010 9:38:54 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
Lethal Weapon – After four of these, they seem a little tired, but at the time, it was a pretty great movie. I watched it all the time on VHS as a teenager, and it takes place over the holidays – in fact, the scene which introduces Mel Gibson’s character is a drug deal in a Christmas Tree lot.
| US $0.49 (0 Bid) End Date: Saturday Sep-04-2010 15:16:23 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
Prancer – This is about as schmaltzy as I go. A little girl who won’t stop believing in the spirit of Christmas despite the fact that her Grinch of a Dad is totally curmudgeon-y finds and hides a reindeer she believes is Prancer. How great is Sam Elliott?
| US $1.99 (0 Bid) End Date: Thursday Sep-09-2010 3:11:17 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever – This has got to be in the Top 5. Everyone thinks the impoverished and crass Herdmans will ruin a small town, conservative church’s Christmas pageant, but instead they end up casting a new and touching perspective on the Christmas story.
| US $15.00 End Date: Saturday Oct-02-2010 11:55:09 PDT Buy It Now for only: US $15.00 Buy it now | Add to watch list |
Christmas Vacation - Another that would definitely be in the Top 5, were I numbering. The Griswold family’s Christmas adventure, including Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie. Oh my GOD, hilarious!!!
| US $4.99 End Date: Saturday Oct-02-2010 13:24:49 PDT Buy It Now for only: US $4.99 Buy it now | Add to watch list |
The Preacher’s Wife – The acting in this movie is nothing compared to the music. SO great!!!!
| US $8.05 End Date: Friday Oct-01-2010 15:50:46 PDT Buy It Now for only: US $8.05 Buy it now | Add to watch list |
Scrooged – My favorite of all the Christmas Carol remakes that have been done, this one features Bill Murray, Alfre Woodard, Carol Kane, Karen Allen, and full cast rendition of “Put a Little Love in Your Heart.” What’s not to love?
| US $9.99 End Date: Saturday Oct-02-2010 11:14:23 PDT Buy It Now for only: US $9.99 Buy it now | Add to watch list |
The Ref – As much as I love Kevin Spacey, this is a Dennis Leary vehicle all the way – and it’s great.
| US $0.99 (0 Bid) End Date: Thursday Sep-09-2010 14:18:41 PDT Buy It Now for only: US $2.99 Bid now | Buy it now | Add to watch list |
The Nightmare Before Christmas – Is it a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? I don’t know. It’s both, I guess. Either way, it’s brilliant!
| US $7.50 (5 Bids) End Date: Thursday Sep-02-2010 14:45:13 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
Go – This is a great little under-known movie that covers three inter-twining perspectives of a night not long before Christmas.
| US $5.50 (0 Bid) End Date: Friday Sep-03-2010 9:25:08 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
Love, Actually – Not really your standard Rom Com, because it covers so many storylines, it is still more mainstream than my tastes tend to run. Still, I like it. It has some very cute and clever moments.
| US $12.78 End Date: Saturday Oct-02-2010 11:42:11 PDT Buy It Now for only: US $12.78 Buy it now | Add to watch list |
This Christmas – Although I was distracted by the LA-area innacuracies (oh, hi, hello, the El Rey IS NOT A CLUB!), I have to say I was won over by this cute, character-driven comedy. Sure, it’s cliche (big family full of quirky characters start out with issues and grow to understand each other better by the end
), but the performances (particularly by Loretta Devine and Regina King) are so much fun, you don’t really mind. You realize you’re being taken on a ride, but you’ll happily go along!
| US $0.99 (0 Bid) End Date: Sunday Sep-05-2010 11:16:51 PDT Bid now | Add to watch list |
While You Were Sleeping – Often credited with launching Sandra Bullock’s career, although I will always maintain that was Speed
, this cute little Chicago-centric story focuses on a series of misunderstandings that lead the family of a man in a coma to believe that the lonely train station token-taker who saved his life is actually his fiance. Hilarity ensues. Or, at least amusement and sweetness. And John Cusack’s dad is in it.

Everything I Need This Christmas Released Today!
Nov 28th
Congrats to my friend Jd Webb, who released his Christmas single today!
You may remember me writing a while ago about the photo shoot for the cover of the single.
Here’s a really cool “behind the scenes” video that shows the “making of” the single.
Also in the video, that people who read my blog might be interested in – Charles Jones, Zane Carney, Sandy
, and Me! Sadly, I’m dressed as Santa, so I’m harder to spot.
I was at the studio when they were filming, but do I make it in dressed like the normal me? No. Only in a beard and glasses.
Five bucks if you spot me.
Lyrics are below the video.
It’s lookin’ like it’s about to snow
The leaves on all the trees fell months ago
It’s Christmas, I’m so glad it’s Christmas
Once again the carolers are warming up to sing
All around you hear the sleigh bells ring
It’s Christmas, I’m so glad it’s Christmas
Once again I’m lookin’ out for some mistletoe
I just want the whole world to know
I got everything I need this Christmas
I don’t even need to make a wishlist
More than presents ‘neath the tree
When I’m with you it’s like the angels sing
I got everything I need this Christmas
As long as you’re here with me nothing’s missin’
So Santa don’t you worry ’bout me
Cause I got everything I need this Christmas
Everyone’s gathered round the tree
Laughin’ bout our favorite memories at Christmas
I’m so glad it’s Christmas
Once again all the presents wrapped so perfectly
Someone always tries to sneak a peak at Christmas
I’m so glad it’s Christmas
Once again having everyone we love here now
It makes me want Christmas all year round
I got everything I need this Christmas
I don’t even need to make a wishlist
More than presents ‘neath the tree
When I’m with you it’s like the angels sing
I got everything I need this Christmas
As long as you’re here with me nothing’s missin’
So Santa don’t you worry ’bout me
Cause I got everything I need this Christmas
