Well, Argentina has officially proven itself to be more enlightened that California.
Latin America’s first gay couple (Jose Maria Di Bello and Alex Freyre) were married today in Tierra Del Fuego’s capital city of Ushauaia.
Congratulations, guys! That’s hot! 😀
I can’t believe Brittany Murphy is dead. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like she was great or anything – but she was cute, and she seemed nice, if a little ditzy.
A lot of people didn’t know she had a pretty good singing voice, in addition to her acting. Take a look at this video from the 2002 MTV Movie Awards. She sings at 2:30.
Here’s what was the top story on Buzz when I checked my Yahoo mail this morning –
And here was the news when I searched Google News –
The lesson? Crowdsourced news can bring interesting things to the forefront, but not all of it will be true!
OK, I admit it. I’m not a huge Twilight fan, I’m not caught up in the huge “New Moon” craze. I could care less. My vampire affinities lie with True Blood. My only interest in the series is that I think it’s great that Anna Kendrick is finally getting her due – or, at least, some recognizability.
She’s fantastic. I first became aware of her in the AWESOME “Camp” – I know it’s esoteric, but I’m in it’s target audience – and that movie just thrills my little theater geek heart to no end! And, in a movie filled with awesome renditions of musical theater classics, Anna absolutely steals the show with her mid-song replacement in Ladies Who Lunch from Company.
But it’s no wonder – Anna, at 12, become the third youngest person ever nominated for a Tony Award for her work in High Society, playing Dinah. The role actually won her the Theatre World Award and the Drama Desk Award.
Take a look at these two videos of Anna stealing the show – the first is of her seminal scene in Camp, the one I referred to above, and the second is of her performing Life Upon the Wicked Stage from Showboat, backed up by the Kit Katt Girls from Cabaret from 1999’s Broadway: The Leading Ladies show.
Check out the below video, also featuring Donald Faison, where Zach Braff combats the rumor that he has died.
It’s frickin’ hilarious! 😀 I know people say that he has a bad temper, but cracks me up. 😛
Here’s the vid – transcription is below:
Zach: Hi! It’s Zach Braff here. I’m alive. There was a big internet rumor today that I was dead, that I ODed on some pills. It’s not the case. I’m alive, I’m here at Scrubs shooting the new Scrubs Title Sequence. Which is a little bit like dying, so I guess that was semi-accurate. Also, I would never off myself with pills. If I had to do it, I would do it the way that everyone else would do it, by hitting myself with pots and pans.
A couple innaccuracies you should have noticed when you saw the thing, if you believed it.
One. The dude said that, let me just pull it up here, he said that I was found in my 32,000 square foot estate in Beverly Hills. Look, I’m not Oprah, all right? That’s a big ass house. And, you know, I’ve got a nice house, but 32,000 square feet – that’s like some Oprah shit right there.
Oh, and also, I think it’s funny that when I posted earlier that I was alive I didn’t really get that many “likes.” And I think there should have been way more likes out there for those of you who like me, when I said that I was alive.
On a positive note, I was able, when my friend Donald Faison called me frantically, I was able to work out with him that if I do ever die, I would like him to sing an R&B version of Wind Beneath my Wings at my funeral.
So I just want to say to Chris Laga-laga-nella, who apparently is the douchebag that started this, you win my first ever “Douche of the Day” award for making my Mom upset.
And now, to play us out, Donald Faison with an R&B rendition of “Wind Beneath My Wings”
Donald (singing): Did you ever know that you’re my hero? You’re everything I would like to could be? OOOO I could..
Zach (interruping): I’m sorry to interrupt, but would you mind just urbaning it up a little bit? R&B it up.
Donald (singing): Did you ever know that you’re my hero…
Zach: Thank you everybody.

Media outlets are reporting that Takiyah Wonder, daughter of musical genius Stevie Wonder, may have attempted to take her own life this past weekend.
Apparently there were issues in her relationship with boyfriend Robert from the group Day 26. She sent the following concerning tweets:
To everyone that screwed me in life, you’ve finally won.
I can’t take it anymore – I’m done.
You won’t have to hear from me again
Sorry to the friends and family that did love me.
I just took something that will have me gone for good.
Finally no more pain
Not good, for sure!
Well, the El Segundo police department have answered the call to “Come and Knock on Our Door” when they arrested Three’s Company’s Joyce DeWitt on July 4th for Suspicion of Drunk Driving. The real insult, though, was not the arrest, but the propogation of this heinous mugshot:
I don’t blame her, though. I feel bad for her. If you spent all those years surrounded by Suzanne Sommers (who received a lot of fame and credit despite not being as talented as you – a tough pill to swallow) and John Ritter (who genuinely was exponentially more talented than you and received all the credit he actually was due – also a pretty tough pill to swallow) – wouldn’t you drink as well?
Carrie Prejean in her Underwear. Sigh. A study in awesomeness – and I don’t mean her bootie, although it is impressive. LOL. I mean – isn’t it awesome when bigots put themselves into the spotlight, pushing their intolerance and hate-filled agendas, and then are undone in an incredibly humiliating and public way soon thereafter? The blissful, tingly schedenfreude I experience during that phase almost makes it worth the disgust I felt in the first phase. 😀
Hey, I never said I was nice.
So, here you go, for your viewing pleasure – Our Soon-to-be-EX Miss California, showing her ass – literally this time, not figuratively like she did at the pagaent.
Check out this cute little Earth Day Video for Kids – a little cartoon explaining the history, etc of Earth Day. It’s fun!
